Role Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineering Lead to drive the design, delivery, and governance of enterprise cloud environments across Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This role will lead a team of cloud engineers, shape cloud strategy, and ensure the delivery of secure, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud solutions aligned with business and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Cloud Strategy
- Lead and develop a team of cloud engineers and technical specialists.
- Define and implement the organization’s cloud roadmap across Azure and OCI platforms.
- Partner with architecture, security, and IT leadership to ensure alignment with enterprise standards and regulatory requirements.
- Promote automation and DevOps best practices, including Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), to standardize and streamline cloud operations.
Cloud Architecture & Engineering
- Design and manage enterprise-scale cloud solutions in Azure and OCI environments.
- Oversee migration initiatives from on-premises systems or other cloud providers.
- Ensure robust configurations for availability, scalability, performance, and disaster recovery.
- Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines, monitoring systems, and observability frameworks.
Governance, Security & Compliance
- Implement cloud governance policies, cost management controls, and resource tagging standards.
- Work closely with cybersecurity teams to enforce identity management, access control, encryption, and security best practices.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR) and internal IT policies.
Operations & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor cloud environments to maintain performance and optimize resource utilization.
- Lead incident management, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for critical cloud services.
- Coordinate with external vendors and managed service providers for escalations and service improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in cloud engineering, including at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
- Strong hands-on expertise with Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure in enterprise environments.
- Solid understanding of cloud networking and hybrid connectivity solutions (e.g., VPN, dedicated connectivity services) and identity/access management systems.
- Experience implementing Infrastructure-as-Code using tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, or Ansible.
- Familiarity with DevOps toolchains (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Kubernetes and managed Kubernetes services).
- Experience with scripting or programming languages such as Go, PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and analytical problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert, OCI Architect Professional, Terraform Associate, CKA, or equivalent).
- Experience managing hybrid or multi-cloud environments.
- Understanding of cloud financial management (FinOps principles).
- Exposure to data platforms, analytics services, or cloud-native application development.
