About the job Record to Report (R2R) Specialist
Overview
Our client, a leading global organization, is seeking a Record to Report (R2R) Specialist for its Global Business Services (GBS) center in Manila. This role is responsible for providing consistent, efficient, and accurate service delivery in transactional requests, analysis, and reporting across multiple financial domains. Working closely with business partners across the Asia Pacific and Americas regions, the specialist ensures all activities are performed in full compliance with international accounting standards and internal corporate policies.
Key Responsibilities
Transactional Processing & Month-End Closing
- Core Accounting: Perform all R2R transactional activities, including General Ledger (GL), Fixed Assets (AA), Controlling (CO), Cash Management (CM), and Financial Supply Chain Management (FSCM).
- Timely Execution: Ensure all requests are processed accurately and within the timelines stipulated in the Service Level Agreements (SLA).
- Closing Activities: Execute all month-end closing tasks in strict accordance with the global closing schedule.
Analysis & Reporting
- Financial Reconciliation: Ensure accuracy and timely distribution of bank reconciliations and consolidated bank fee reports for global treasury reporting.
- Tax Compliance: Manage local VAT/GST reporting and analysis to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Ad-hoc Support: Provide various other financial analyses and reports as listed in the SLA or requested by business partners from time to time.
Control, Compliance & Governance
- Standard Adherence: Maintain deep knowledge of IFRS and local statutory requirements to uphold a strong control environment.
- Internal Audit: Execute and evidence J-SOX controls as a designated Control Owner, ensuring full compliance with internal control practices.
- System Testing: Support system testing for process changes, ensuring all impacts on R2R activities are thoroughly assessed and understood.
- Process Improvement & Business Partnering
- Operational Excellence: Regularly review R2R operational metrics and KPIs to identify and recommend process optimizations.
- Stakeholder Management: Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with business partners, ensuring timely resolution of all internal and external queries.
- Documentation: Constantly develop business knowledge and ensure all process documentation remains up to date.
Requirements
Education & Experience
Education: University degree in a finance-related discipline; a professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, or CIMA) is highly desired.
Professional Tenure: Minimum of 6 years of work experience, with at least 3–4 years specifically in a finance-related role.
Sector Background: Experience in a Shared Services environment and proficiency with SAP are strongly preferred.
Technical & Functional Skills
- Accounting Expertise: Proven ability to interpret and apply professional accounting standards and principles such as IFRS.
- System Knowledge: Experience with SAP Financial Closing Cockpit and month-end closing activities in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Compliance Knowledge: Strong understanding of indirect tax concepts (VAT, GST) and financial governance principles, including J-Sox.
- Software Proficiency: Competent in SAP and MS Office applications.
- Language Skills: Fluent in English (oral and written); knowledge of other regional languages is an advantage.
