Our client, a premier global organization, is seeking a Senior Accounting & Reporting Specialist fluent in Mandarin to join their Global Business Services center in Manila. This role is a critical component of the regional finance framework, providing comprehensive IFRS and statutory accounting support for entities across the Asia-Pacific region. The successful candidate will ensure the integrity of financial data and the delivery of high-quality reporting while bridging linguistic and cultural gaps with regional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • General Ledger & IFRS Excellence: Analyze and prepare complex monthly accounting entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and quarterly/annual reporting packages in full alignment with IFRS principles and established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Statutory Compliance: Collaborate with regional markets to facilitate statutory audits and the preparation of financial statements.
  • Specialized Reporting: Support the preparation of tax packages, VAT return data validation, and annual regulatory reports (such as CBCR and JCFC).
  • Data Integrity: Oversee accruals and the maintenance of master data requests for fixed assets and General Ledger (GL) accounts.

Governance, Control & Audit

  • Internal Controls: Execute assigned internal controls (JSOX) and operational safeguards according to corporate documentation.
  • Risk Mitigation: Proactively escalate control failures and ensure mitigation actions are implemented effectively.
  • Technical Review: Review and provide critical feedback on accounting entries and process documentation prepared by other team specialists to ensure accuracy.

Operational Excellence & Projects

  • Process Optimization: Continuously analyze and support process improvements, including coordinating User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for financial system changes.
  • Transition Support: Support system migrations and the onboarding of new business entities into the shared services model.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and training to junior team members to maintain a high standard of functional expertise within the team.

Stakeholder & Regional Liaison

  • Language Integration: Utilize high-level Mandarin proficiency (Simplified and Traditional) to liaise with accountants, controllers, and departments in regional markets.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a primary contact for regional finance colleagues, ensuring the flow of reliable accounting information across borders.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Education: University degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or similar professional qualification is a plus.
  • Professional Tenure: Minimum of 1 year of experience in finance/accounting or external auditing; background in financial reporting is preferred.
  • Domain Knowledge: Solid understanding of IFRS, general accounting (Fixed Assets, Intercompany, Leases, Accruals), and SOX compliance.

Technical & Language Skills

  • Linguistic Mastery: Fluent in English and Mandarin (oral, reading, and writing). Proficiency in both Simplified and Traditional Chinese is required for regional tax compliance.
  • Systems Proficiency: Familiarity with SAP and Microsoft Office applications; experience with system migrations or shared service transitions is a plus.
