The Project Manager is responsible for leading the end-to-end delivery of healthcare, operational, system implementation, and enterprise data initiatives. This role manages multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously, ensuring that scope, timelines, budgets, resources, risks, and deliverables are effectively managed from project initiation through closure.

Working within the Project Management Office (PMO), the Project Manager partners closely with project sponsors, business leaders, internal teams, vendors, and executive stakeholders to drive successful project execution. The role requires strong project governance, cross-functional collaboration, stakeholder management, risk mitigation, and executive-level reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multiple projects of varying size and complexity in alignment with established PMO methodologies, standards, and governance.
  • Manage the complete project lifecycle, from initiation, planning, and execution through monitoring, implementation, and project closure.
  • Partner with project sponsors and key stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, deliverables, success measures, and resource requirements.
  • Establish project team structures and clarify roles and responsibilities through appropriate governance tools, including RACI matrices.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, schedules, budgets, risk and issue logs, action trackers, and status reports.
  • Build and manage detailed project schedules, identifying key milestones, dependencies, resource assignments, critical path activities, and delivery timelines.
  • Monitor project performance and progress to ensure deliverables are completed according to approved scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
  • Facilitate regular project meetings, including project kickoffs, stakeholder discussions, working sessions, and status reviews.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and executive-level project updates to PMO leadership, senior management, and other key stakeholders.
  • Identify potential risks, issues, dependencies, and roadblocks; develop mitigation and contingency plans and escalate critical concerns as necessary.
  • Drive accountability among internal teams, business owners, external partners, and vendors to ensure timely completion of assigned actions and deliverables.
  • Manage vendor relationships and monitor performance against contractual obligations, statements of work, timelines, and agreed deliverables.
  • Review and analyze business requirements, vendor statements of work, and related project documentation to ensure alignment and clarity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the successful execution of healthcare, integration, operational improvement, technology, and enterprise initiatives.
  • Lead project closeout activities, including project documentation, lessons learned, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, structured project execution, and operational excellence across project teams.
  • Ensure awareness of and compliance with organizational information security, privacy, and PHI protection requirements.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive project management experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience in healthcare operations is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects across multiple workstreams and stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Experience supporting IT projects, system implementations, or enterprise transformation initiatives is preferred.
  • Experience with EMR/EHR implementations, such as Epic, Athena, or eClinicalWorks, is highly preferred.
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management certification is strongly preferred.
