Role Overview

The Category Lead is responsible for managing and growing a specific product category by driving sales, optimizing assortment, and executing category strategies. This role ensures the category meets revenue, profitability, and market share targets through data-driven decisions and strong supplier partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

1. Category Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and execute category strategies aligned with overall business goals

  • Identify growth opportunities, market trends, and customer preferences

  • Define product assortment, pricing, and promotional strategies

2. Sales & Performance Management

  • Own category P&L, including revenue, margins, and inventory health

  • Monitor sales performance and implement action plans to hit targets

  • Analyze data to optimize product mix and improve sell-through

3. Supplier & Vendor Management

  • Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers and partners

  • Lead negotiations on pricing, terms, and promotions

  • Ensure timely product availability and inventory planning

4. Merchandising & Execution

  • Oversee product listing, placement, and visibility across channels

  • Collaborate with Marketing for campaigns, launches, and promotions

  • Ensure strong in-store and/or online merchandising execution

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance teams

  • Align category plans with overall commercial and operational strategies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field

  • At least 5–8 years of experience in category management, merchandising, or buying

  • Strong experience in retail, cosmetics, skin care, e-commerce, FMCG, or distribution

  • Proven track record in managing category performance and vendor relationships

  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and planning skills
