Job Description:
About the Company
A mission-driven AI startup, headquartered in the Netherlands, is pioneering deepfake detection technology. Founded out of academic research in 2018, its mission is to protect digital trust in an era where AI-manipulated media threatens security, reputation, and democracy.
The platform detects fake video, audio, and images across industries - from law enforcement and defense to financial institutions and enterprises fighting fraud. With features in the New York Times, WIRED, and BBC, and new funding secured, the company is entering its next growth chapter: building a commercial team to turn world-class research into global impact.

About the Role
We’re seeking the first dedicated Marketing Lead: a T-Shaped generalist with deep expertise in content, SEO, and thought leadership, and the range to connect this with product marketing, PR, and demand generation.
This is one of the current most critical hires: you’ll take ownership of marketing end-to-end, freeing the founding team from day-to-day execution so they can focus on growth and product.
Why this role?
You’re not just “running campaigns.” You’ll be defining a new category shaping how enterprises and governments understand and act against deepfake threats.
Pioneer a Market: Educate industries on risks they don’t fully see yet.
- Content that Leads: Turn unique datasets into authority-building reports, blogs, and stories.
- Efficient Growth: Drive leads through organic and earned channel.
- Founder Seat at the Table: Work directly with the CEO (PhD in ML) & Commercial Co-founder on positioning and strategy.
Your Impact
- Make the company the go-to authority through flagship reports and timely content.
- Turn awareness into qualified leads and prove marketing drives the pipeline.
- Achieve SEO dominance on deepfake-related keywords.
- Secure press, events, and media presence that cement category leadership.
- Build the marketing engine (analytics, CRM, content ops) that scales into a team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Content & Thought Leadership
- Produce in-depth industry reports, blogs, whitepapers that establish authority on deepfakes.
Repurpose proprietary data into insights that attract press and leads.
- Launch and manage a podcast or webinar series with external collaborators.
2. SEO & Digital Growth
- Own the website and funnel performance, optimising for both discoverability and conversion.
- Execute SEO strategy (keywords, on-page, backlinks) to significantly grow organic traffic.
3. Product Marketing & Sales Enablement
- Translate complex AI features into clear value props for government, enterprise, and financial clients.
- Build sales collateral (decks, one-pagers, infographics) to support the new Sales Manager.
4. PR & Market Presence
- Amplify media coverage and secure placements in tier-one outlets and industry events.
- Ensure the founders’ voices are consistently visible in the global AI security conversation.
5. Marketing Foundations & Systems
- Set up analytics, CRM integrations, and scalable processes (content calendars, reporting dashboards).
- Lay the groundwork for a future marketing team, including freelancer/agency management.

We Need You, If You Have:
- 3-5 years of B2B tech marketing experience, ideally in SaaS, cybersecurity, AI, or identity/fraud prevention.
- Startup experience is a strong plus, especially early-stage
- Proven content chops: You’ve authored blogs, reports, or case studies that got cited, shared, and drove pipeline.
- SEO expertise: Hands-on with tools like Google Search Console, GA4, Ahrefs, SEMrush; you’ve grown organic traffic before.
- Strategic + hands-on: You can design a go-to-market plan and write the blog yourself.
Domain curiosity: You love learning complex tech and explaining it simply.
- Founder DNA: Proactive, resourceful, scrappy. You spot opportunities, not just tasks.
------------------------------
Why Join?
- Pioneer in a new frontier: Shape the narrative in deepfake detection, a category that barely existed 5 years ago.
- High autonomy & impact: As the first marketer, you’re effectively the “CMO” - no bureaucracy, direct founder collaboration.
- Mission with meaning: Protect truth, trust, and security in a world under threat from generative AI.
- Growth & upside: Salary €50k to €95K + equity, depending on experience, relevance, and what you can bring to the table.
- Clear path to Head of Marketing/VP role as the company scales.
- Hybrid flexibility: with a hub in Amsterdam; overlap CET hours.
Being based in the Netherlands, or ability to travel once a month, is a big plus.
