Job Summary

The Executive, Waste Specialist is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all waste management activities within the organisation, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and statutory requirements. This role manages waste from generation to final disposal, including collection, transportation, treatment, monitoring, and regulatory compliance. The position supports environmental sustainability initiatives and ensures that waste management practices align with corporate standards, legal frameworks, and information security policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and update waste management procedures in compliance with environmental laws, governmental regulations, and internal standards.
  • Oversee waste disposal systems, including hazardous and contaminated materials handling, ensuring safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible practices.
  • Plan and administer waste management budgets, disposal strategies, and resource optimisation initiatives.
  • Coordinate and liaise with licensed waste contractors and service providers, monitor vendor performance, and ensure regulatory compliance in waste handling and transportation.
  • Maintain accurate statistical records, prepare reports, monitor pollution levels, and address waste-related queries or complaints.
  • Conduct training and awareness programmes to ensure staff understand safe waste handling and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure implementation of Information Security (IS) and IT policies in protecting organisational information and assets related to waste management documentation.

Requirements

  • Degree, Diploma, or equivalent professional qualification in Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in waste management or environmental compliance; 1–3 years of supervisory experience may be required.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, waste handling regulations, and HSE management systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills 

    (written and verbal).
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Computer literate with good knowledge of departmental processes and reporting systems.
