Job Description
Position: Senior Project Specialist / Engineer
1. Job Purpose
The Senior Project Specialist / Engineer is responsible for supporting project planning, scheduling, and execution tracking across high-value projects. The role ensures that project timelines are accurately developed, maintained, and monitored, providing clear visibility on progress, risks, and delays to support successful project delivery.
2. Key Roles & Responsibilities
A. Strategic Responsibilities
- Support the development and standardization of project planning and scheduling practices
- Contribute to the enhancement of project tracking, reporting, and scheduling methodologies
- Provide schedule-driven insights to support project planning and decision-making
- Ensure alignment of scheduling activities with project objectives and organizational standards
B. Operational Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules in coordination with project managers and stakeholders
- Monitor project progress against approved schedules and identify deviations or delays
- Perform schedule analysis, including critical path identification and impact assessment
- Support project planning activities such as resource loading and task sequencing
- Prepare and maintain progress reports, schedule updates, and performance dashboards
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (engineering, procurement, logistics, etc.) to ensure accurate schedule inputs
- Identify scheduling risks and support the development of mitigation strategies
- Assist in change management by evaluating schedule impacts of project variations
- Ensure proper documentation, version control, and tracking of project schedules
C. People Management
- Coordinate with project team members to ensure timely updates and accurate reporting
- Provide guidance and support to junior project coordinators or planners, where applicable
- Promote effective collaboration across departments to ensure alignment with project timelines
3. Key Business Interactions
Internal: Project Managers, Engineering, Procurement, Logistics, Finance Teams
External: Clients, Consultants, Vendors (as applicable)
4. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Schedule adherence and project timeline accuracy
- Timely preparation and submission of reports
- Accuracy of schedule analysis and forecasting
- Effectiveness in identifying and mitigating schedule risks
- Quality of coordination with cross-functional teams
5. Skills, Knowledge & Competencies
Technical Competencies
- Strong understanding of project scheduling principles and methodologies
- Proficiency in scheduling tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent
- Sound knowledge of project lifecycle and execution processes
- Ability to perform schedule analysis (critical path, dependencies, delays)
- Experience in project reporting and performance tracking
- Basic knowledge of cost control and project controls is an advantage

6. Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Project Management
Certifications
- PMP or equivalent project management certification (preferred/required based on company policy)
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in project coordination, planning, or scheduling roles
- Experience working on high-value or complex projects
