About the Role:

  • We are seeking an experienced Lead Engineer with a strong background in WordPress development, project management, and deep expertise in both Contentful and WordPress ecosystems.
  • In this role, you will take ownership of critical migration projectsensuring that content, design, and functionality remain intact while delivering performance enhancements and robust security measures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership & Development: Lead the development and delivery of custom WordPress themes and plugins to meet specific project requirements.
  • Guide the technical team in converting Contentful-based templates into reusable and efficient WordPress templates while ensuring design fidelity.
  • Oversee the automation of migration tasks using APIs and scripts to streamline processes and improve accuracy.

Project Oversight & Collaboration:

  • Collaborate closely with stakeholdersincluding UX/UI designers, project managers, and backend developersto align migration strategies with overall business goals.
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact, facilitating clear communication between team members and stakeholders.
  • Ensure that project milestones and deliverables are met on time while managing risk and quality throughout the migration lifecycle.

Performance & Optimization:

  • Ensure website responsiveness and cross-browser compatibility through rigorous performance testing and optimization.
  • Implement advanced caching techniques (e.g., WP Rocket, Varnish) and integrate Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) like CloudFront to optimize page load times.
  • Continuously monitor and improve system performance, addressing bottlenecks and implementing scalable solutions.

Quality Assurance & Security:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during and after the migration process. Incorporate and enforce robust security measures to safeguard websites throughout the migration and beyond.
  • Conduct regular performance tests and code reviews to maintain high standards of quality and reliability.

Knowledge Sharing & Training:

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive training sessions, documentation, and best practices for both team members and clients.
  • Mentor junior engineers, fostering an environment of continuous learning and innovation.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Senior WordPress Developer or Lead Engineer in similar web development projects.
  • In-depth expertise in core programming languages including PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and MySQL.
  • Strong working knowledge of WordPress CMS, theme and plugin development, and Contentful-based solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and executing complex website migration projects. Familiarity with debugging tools and version control systems (e.g., Git) to manage and deploy code effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Bachelors degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with API integrations and data migration tools to automate and optimize workflows.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while consistently meeting deadlines. Knowledge of AWS services and cloud infrastructure best practices.
  • Experience in an agile development environment and familiarity with DevOps practices.
