About the Role:
- We are seeking an experienced Lead Engineer with a strong background in WordPress development, project management, and deep expertise in both Contentful and WordPress ecosystems.
- In this role, you will take ownership of critical migration projectsensuring that content, design, and functionality remain intact while delivering performance enhancements and robust security measures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership & Development: Lead the development and delivery of custom WordPress themes and plugins to meet specific project requirements.
- Guide the technical team in converting Contentful-based templates into reusable and efficient WordPress templates while ensuring design fidelity.
- Oversee the automation of migration tasks using APIs and scripts to streamline processes and improve accuracy.
Project Oversight & Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with stakeholdersincluding UX/UI designers, project managers, and backend developersto align migration strategies with overall business goals.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact, facilitating clear communication between team members and stakeholders.
- Ensure that project milestones and deliverables are met on time while managing risk and quality throughout the migration lifecycle.
Performance & Optimization:
- Ensure website responsiveness and cross-browser compatibility through rigorous performance testing and optimization.
- Implement advanced caching techniques (e.g., WP Rocket, Varnish) and integrate Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) like CloudFront to optimize page load times.
- Continuously monitor and improve system performance, addressing bottlenecks and implementing scalable solutions.
Quality Assurance & Security:
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during and after the migration process. Incorporate and enforce robust security measures to safeguard websites throughout the migration and beyond.
- Conduct regular performance tests and code reviews to maintain high standards of quality and reliability.
Knowledge Sharing & Training:
- Develop and deliver comprehensive training sessions, documentation, and best practices for both team members and clients.
- Mentor junior engineers, fostering an environment of continuous learning and innovation.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Senior WordPress Developer or Lead Engineer in similar web development projects.
- In-depth expertise in core programming languages including PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and MySQL.
- Strong working knowledge of WordPress CMS, theme and plugin development, and Contentful-based solutions.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and executing complex website migration projects. Familiarity with debugging tools and version control systems (e.g., Git) to manage and deploy code effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Bachelors degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with API integrations and data migration tools to automate and optimize workflows.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while consistently meeting deadlines. Knowledge of AWS services and cloud infrastructure best practices.
- Experience in an agile development environment and familiarity with DevOps practices.
