Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced SAP Basis Lead to oversee Basis administration activities for a global AMS (Application Management Services) engagement. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in SAP system administration, including system monitoring, performance tuning, incident resolution, root cause analysis (RCA), patch management, upgrades, and SLA governance. This role requires working in the Mountain Time (MT) shift to align with client operations in the USA.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the end-to-end SAP Basis administration across the SAP landscape, including ECC, S/4HANA, PI/PO, Fiori, Solution Manager, and other components as applicable.
Perform daily system monitoring, health checks, and performance tuning to ensure high availability and reliability of systems.
Handle incident and problem management, including RCA, resolution, documentation, and preventive measures.
Ensure timely application of support packages, kernel upgrades, patches, and transport management.
Plan and execute system refreshes, backups, and recovery procedures in coordination with infrastructure teams.
Monitor and manage system jobs, background processing, database performance, and security authorizations.
Ensure compliance with SLAs/KPIs, and maintain documentation for audits, change control, and operational transparency.
Coordinate with functional, development, and infrastructure teams for efficient resolution of issues and seamless operations.
Plan and lead minor and major technical upgrades, including version and enhancement pack upgrades.
Collaborate with global stakeholders and provide regular updates on system health, capacity, risks, and mitigation plans.
- Mentor junior Basis team members and ensure adherence to best practices and standards.
Required Skills & Experience:
7-8 years of hands-on experience in SAP Basis administration across a diverse SAP landscape (ECC, S/4HANA, PI/PO, BW, etc.).
- Proven experience in system monitoring, performance tuning, RCA, patching, upgrades, and transport management.
Experience in global AMS support environments, preferably with US-based clients.
Familiarity with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow, Remedy, or Jira for ticket management and SLA tracking.
Strong understanding of SLA governance, escalation handling, and production support processes.
Experience with SAP Solution Manager (for monitoring, charm, EWA, etc.).
Exposure to cloud hosting (AWS, Azure, GCP) and HANA database administration is an added advantage.
Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work in a Mountain Time (MT) shift to support USA-based operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
SAP Basis or HANA certification is a plus.
Experience with SAP system migration implementations.
- Knowledge of automation tools and scripts for Basis activities.
Education:
- Bachelors or masters degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Shift: USA Coverage Mountain Time (MT)
Note: Additional compensation for night shift duties will be provided as per company policy. Transportation support may be arranged for late-night logouts, if applicable.
