About the Product
Youll join a fast-growing consumer social app used by millions of teenagers across the US and UK. The platform enables safe, authentic 1:1 conversations and meaningful peer discovery positioned as an alternative to follower-driven social media models.
The engineering team (20 people) operates with high autonomy and ownership. The product is scaling rapidly, and the backend is entering a major migration phase to support future growth.
What You Will Do

Lead the migration of backend services from Node.js to Go

Design, rewrite, and maintain scalable distributed backend systems

Define and execute a smooth, progressive migration strategy

Collaborate with product & engineering teams on architectural direction

Improve reliability, observability, and performance of high-traffic services

Integrate and maintain third-party services (analytics, moderation, cloud tools)

Contribute to the evolution of the backend to support rapid iteration

Share Go best practices and support internal adoption
Requirements
Must-have
-
5+ years of backend engineering experience

Strong hands-on skills in Node.js and Golang
-
Proven experience rewriting or migrating services at scale

Solid knowledge of distributed systems and high-traffic architectures

Comfortable with AWS or GCP

Fluent in French (required)

Product mindset; ability to challenge assumptions and propose solutions
Nice-to-have

Experience with consumer or social applications

DevOps experience (Terraform, CloudFormation, IaC)

Familiarity with cloud-native microservice environments
