About the job Field Machinist
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the set up, operation and maintenance of machines as well as various equipment used in manufacturing/manufacturing facilities; some travel may be required to perform machine setup and operations; other related duties may be involved
- Performs routine tasks in a safe manner and adhere to established safety procedures; may be required to weld, grind, assemble, or set up metal machinery.
- Conducts operations to include setting up new machines and tooling, maintaining equipment and processes, and performing machine operations and maintenance
- Performs routine maintenance on various machines and equipment.
- Assembles machines, machining fixtures and setups for production work.
- Performs quality inspections of products by analyzing error records and removing non-conforming parts.
- Operates or inspects machine tools to determine if they are operating correctly or need repair.
- Engages in safe work practices and procedures to reduce risks associated with working with hazardous materials.
- Performs other duties as requested by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Experience working with tools and machinery, including ID and OD mount machining- air and hydraulic driven equipment
- Experience with milling, flange facing, weld preps, cutting/beveling, heat exchanger/tube sheet, & manway machining
- Proficient in the use of shop equipment such as hoists, jigs, dies, drill presses and other machine tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Minimum of 2 years in industrial machine setup/operation and maintenance with an emphasis on machining operations- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications.
- Must be able to work independently, communicate effectively with others, work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Possess strong organizational skills including attention to detail, accuracy in written reports, quick learner with demonstrated problem solving abilities
