Train Driver

The role: 

• The Train Driver is responsible for the safe, punctual, and efficient operation of trains, including high-speed passenger services, regional services, or freight trains, in compliance with national regulations, company standards, and operational procedures.
• As a key front-line representative of the railway operator, the Train Driver ensures that train services are delivered safely, reliably, and with a focus on passenger comfort or cargo integrity.
• This role requires strong technical knowledge, a high level of safety awareness, and the ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.

Your responsibilities:

• Ensure safe, on-time, and energy-saving operation of the train.
• Activate and prepare trains before the beginning of daily operation.
• Perform shunting of trains in the depot yard and workshop area if necessary.
• Operate trains on the mainline during normal operation.
• Familiarize oneself with changes to operational rules, SOPs, periodical operational documents, and short notice instructions.
• Maintain a high level of alertness and vigilance during train operation, promptly responding to abnormalities and keeping the Operation Control Centre informed.
• Operate trains in different kinds of degraded modes.
• Promptly respond to train malfunctions, efficiently manage them, and clear blockages on the mainline as quickly as possible.
• Perform evacuation procedures in case of an emergency.
• Perform stabling and shutdown of trains.

Your profile/ qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in railway operations.
• Proven knowledge of all aspects of compliance and safety regulations.
• Train driving license or willingness to acquire it.
• Technical background related to railway operations and unrestricted suitability for railway operations.
• Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• High degree of reliability, flexibility, resilience, and willingness to learn.
• Strong commitment to safety.
• Strong ability to work under pressure and in rotating shifts, with strong client orientation and a quick response attitude.
• Ability to work with a diverse workforce in intercultural environments, basic IT skills, fluent operational English, and fluent Arabic.
