Job Title: Fleet Operations Manager.

Reporting to: Senior Mechanical Engineering Manager

Job Profile:

The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of fleet operations, including heavy trucks, loaders, and forklifts. This role ensures optimal performance, safety, and cost-efficiency across all equipment and vehicles. The position focuses on managing maintenance programs, minimizing downtime, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will bring extensive technical and operational expertise in managing heavy equipment fleets within an industrial or logistics environment.

Responsibilities:

Supervise and control all fleet assets, including trucks, forklifts, loaders, and heavy-duty vehicles, ensuring operational reliability and efficiency.

Develop and implement preventive maintenance and inspection programs to extend the lifespan of all equipment.

Manage workshop operations, spare parts inventory, and vendor relationships to guarantee timely and cost-effective repairs.

Monitor vehicle and equipment utilization to optimize productivity and reduce idle time.

Ensure all fleet operations comply with transportation, safety, and environmental regulations.

Investigate breakdowns and accidents, analyze root causes, and implement corrective and preventive measures.

Establish performance metrics and KPIs for fleet efficiency, fuel consumption, and maintenance costs.

Prepare and manage annual fleet budgets, track expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Lead, train, and evaluate the Fleet Operations and Maintenance Teams, ensuring strong technical performance and safety awareness.

Collaborate with internal departments (Logistics, Operations, Safety, and Procurement) to streamline fleet scheduling and resource allocation.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance fleet uptime and operational standards.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or automotive engineering.

Experience: Minimum of 10 years in fleet management, maintenance, and logistics, including 5 years in a senior leadership role handling heavy trucks, loaders, and forklifts.

Key Skills:

Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of heavy-duty vehicle systems, maintenance planning, workshop management, and spare parts logistics.

Skills: Strong leadership, analytical thinking, decision-making, problem-solving, and budgeting capabilities.

Communication: Excellent command of English (spoken and written).

Technology: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and fleet management systems/software.
