Position Summary
The Chief Internal Auditor is a key executive role, responsible for safeguarding the companys assets, ensuring robust internal controls, and delivering independent, objective evaluations of financial, operational, and compliance activities. This leader sets the strategic direction of the Internal Audit function, aligning it with corporate governance, enterprise risk management, and international auditing standards. The position is instrumental in strengthening organizational integrity, transparency, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Planning
Define the Internal Audit vision, strategy, and annual risk-based audit plan in alignment with
corporate goals.
Provide strategic advice to the Audit Committee, Board of Directors, and senior management on
governance, risk, and control matters.
Align audit priorities with enterprise risk assessments for all operating and non-operating sectors and
also business objectives.
Audit Execution & Oversight
Oversee and guide financial, operational, compliance, and IT audits across all company functions.
Ensure audits adhere to the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing
(IPPF).
Identify risks, gaps, and process improvement opportunities that enhance efficiency and safeguard
assets.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
Assess the adequacy of governance structures, risk management systems, and internal control
frameworks.
Monitor adherence to applicable laws, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards in Egypt.
Evaluate business continuity and disaster recovery plans for resilience and effectiveness.
Reporting & Communication
Prepare and deliver clear, actionable audit reports for management, the Audit Committee, and the
Board.
Track and verify the timely implementation of corrective actions from audit findings.
Present complex audit issues in a manner understandable to non-financial stakeholders.
Stakeholder Engagement
Liaise with external auditors, regulators, and relevant authorities to ensure alignment and
compliance.
Build strong relationships with business leaders to promote a culture of accountability and risk
awareness.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelors degree or masters degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
Professional certification (e.g., CIA Certified Internal Auditor) is strongly preferred.
Minimum 13 years of internal audit experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Industry experience in ports, shipping, logistics, manufacturing, or large-scale industrial operations
is an asset. (Terminals or Container Handling Industry is highly preferred)
Deep understanding of financial reporting, operational audits, compliance, IT governance, and risk
management principles.
Exceptional leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Completion rate of the annual audit plan / Percentage of high-priority audit recommendations
implemented within agreed timelines / Reduction in recurring audit findings year-over-year /
Improvement in governance, risk, and control assessment scores / Positive feedback score from the
Audit Committee and senior management.
