About the job Estimator
ROLE PURPOSE
Prepare accurate, fully-costed quotations for woodwork, furniture, joinery, and fit-out projects — taking a project fromtender drawings through to final selling price. This is a specialist estimating role, not general quantity surveying: the right candidate understands real furniture and joinery manufacturing costs, not just measurement and pricing.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Take projects from tender drawings through BOQ, quantity take-off, materials, hardware, labor, subcontractors,
- finishing, wastage, overhead, and margin to a final quotation
- Prepare BOQs and material take-offs for woodwork, furniture, and joinery scope
- Price materials including MDF, plywood, veneer, solid wood, laminate, and HPL
- Price hardware — hinges, runners, locks, handles, and fittings
- Cost factory labor and site installation labor separately
- Understand CNC and production implications when estimating
- Obtain and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Prepare tender submissions and coordinate with technical office and production during handover
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
- 3–8 years of total estimating experience, with at least 2–5 years directly estimating woodwork, furniture, joinery, or fit
- out projects — general quantity surveying or MEP estimating experience alone is not a fit
- Able to read AutoCAD drawings, PDFs, and shop drawings
- Strong knowledge of finishing types: paint, lacquer, veneer, stain, and PU
- Advanced Excel and costing-sheet skills; ERP costing/procurement system experience preferred
- Ideally has production or factory-floor exposure, not only desk-based estimating
- Strong English for specifications and tenders
LANGUAGES
Fluent English required for specifications and tenders; Arabic preferred.
