Job Summary:

The Senior Cigarette Maker Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining, and optimizing cigarette-making machines to ensure consistent product quality, high efficiency, and minimal downtime. This role involves troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical issues, training junior technicians, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives in line with company standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Machine Operation & Maintenance

  • Operate and monitor high-speed cigarette-making machines (e.g., PROTOS, KDF, GDX, etc.) to ensure optimal performance.

  • Conduct regular preventive maintenance, calibration, and adjustments on mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems.

  • Troubleshoot and repair machine breakdowns promptly to minimize production interruptions.

  • Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines.

2. Quality Control

  • Monitor product parameters such as draw resistance, weight, circumference, and ventilation.

  • Collaborate with quality teams to ensure products meet specifications and regulatory standards.

  • Identify and resolve quality deviations and machine performance issues.

3. Process Optimization

  • Analyze machine data to identify opportunities for performance and efficiency improvements.

  • Implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce waste and improve yield.

  • Support production engineering in equipment upgrades and process modifications.

4. Leadership & Training

  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and on-the-job training to junior technicians and operators.

  • Support shift leaders in coordinating production schedules and maintenance activities.

  • Participate in cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence initiatives.

5. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, downtime records, and shift reports.

  • Report recurring technical issues and assist in root cause analysis.

  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Qualifications & Experience:

Education:

  • Diploma or Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent technical qualification).

Experience:

  • Minimum 5+ years experience in cigarette manufacturing or similar high-speed packaging environments.

  • Strong hands-on experience with cigarette-making machines (e.g., Hauni PROTOS, Molins, Decoufle, or equivalent).

Technical Skills:

  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.

  • PLC knowledge (Siemens, Allen Bradley, or similar preferred).

  • Understanding of machine alignment, sensors, drives, and pneumatic systems.

  • Familiarity with TPM, 5S, and Lean manufacturing principles.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet production targets.

  • Leadership and mentoring capabilities.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for long periods during shifts.
