Job Description: CS Core / IMS / SVC Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a CS Core / IMS / SVC Engineer to support, operate, and evolve mobile core networks. The role covers CS, IMS, and SVC solutions, with responsibilities and technical depth aligned to the candidates experience level. Engineers will work in live network environments, ensuring service availability, performance, and continuous improvement.

Experience Levels

  • Mid-Level Engineer: 3–5 Years

  • Senior Engineer: 5–8 Years

  • Expert / Lead Engineer: More than 8 Years

Responsibilities & Technical Requirements by Experience Level

3–5 Years (Mid-Level CS / IMS Engineer)

Core Network Knowledge

  • Understand the basic structure of mobile communication networks

  • Knowledge of CS / SVC solutions or IMS / SBC services with basic configuration capabilities

Signaling & Protocols

  • Basic knowledge of SS7, M3UA, signaling link configuration, and GT routing

  • Familiarity with ISUP, BICC, SIP

  • Understanding of mobility control protocols:

    • BSSAP, RANAP, MAP, CAP

  • General knowledge of SIP, SDP, DIAMETER, DNS, ENUM

Mobility & Subscriber Concepts

  • Understanding of authentication and encryption mechanisms

  • Knowledge of LAI, LAC, cell, service area, paging, roaming, handover, STN-SR

  • Ability to check subscriber profiles in HSS and understand basic subscriber parameters

Operations & Support

  • Perform L1 health checks and maintain operational scripts

  • Monitor network performance, system logs, and capacity

  • Enable traces and support basic call troubleshooting

  • Provide first-line technical support for CS/IMS core network elements

5–8 Years (Senior CS / IMS Engineer)

Core Architecture

  • Strong command of IMS architecture and components:

    • CGP, SPG, CSC, ATS, MRP, SBC, CCF

  • Strong understanding of CS Core architecture:

    • MSC, MGW, HSS, STP, DRA

Signaling & Protocols

  • Solid expertise in:

    • MTP3, SCCP, and SS7 signaling networks

    • M2UA, M3UA, H.248, MGCP

    • ISUP, BICC, SIP

    • SIP, SDP, DIAMETER, DNS, ENUM

  • Understanding of TCAP, CAMEL, INAP

Service Flows & Mobility

  • Master mobile communication procedures:

    • Call, SMS, handover, location update

    • CSFB, SRVCC, eSRVCC

    • Anchoring and domain selection

  • Strong understanding of codecs and WIN principles

Integration & Troubleshooting

  • Configure and troubleshoot interconnections between CS/IMS and:

    • DRA, EPC, 5GC, PCRF, HSS, IN

  • Handle configuration and troubleshooting of key services:

    • Emergency calls, QoS, roaming, SRVCC, anchoring

  • Perform B-number analysis and routing

  • Implement flexible Diameter routing on DRA

  • Troubleshoot KPI degradation and performance issues

SVC Knowledge

  • General understanding of SVC solution architecture and networking principles

More Than 8 Years (Expert / Lead CS / IMS Engineer)

Advanced Core & IMS Expertise

  • Expert-level knowledge of CS, IMS, and SVC solutions

  • Deep experience with IMS & SBC products, including supplementary and commercial trunk services

  • Strong hands-on expertise with MSOFTX, AGCF, SOFTX, MGW

Signaling & Protocol Mastery

  • Advanced command of:

    • M2UA, M3UA, and SCTP

    • BSSAP, RANAP, MAP, CAP, SGSAP, GTP-C (Sv interface)

    • TCAP, INAP

    • RTP, RTCP, H.248

Service Control & Mobility Leadership

  • Master IN service signaling flows

  • Deep expertise in:

    • Anchoring, domain selection

    • SRVCC / eSRVCC handovers

    • Emergency call handling and resilience mechanisms

Network Integration & Live Operations

  • Lead interconnection design and troubleshooting between IMS and:

    • DRA, EPC, 5GC, CS, PCRF, HSS, IN

    • NMS, BOSS, and charging systems in live networks

  • Strong experience with:

    • IP SMS

    • QoS, roaming, resource reservation

    • iFC configuration and modification

    • Cloud IMS C/M separation platforms

Design, Evolution & Strategy

  • Own network design (HLD) and overlay networking schemes

  • Drive evolution from traditional CS to SVC

  • Lead Cloud IMS upgrades and capacity expansion

  • Define networking requirements for CloudCore & CloudEdge co-deployment

  • Translate customer requirements into end-to-end technical solutions
