Manufacturing Quality Engineer (Hardware)
Job Description:
Location: Pittsburgh, PA (Onsite)
Type: 6-Month Contract (extension/conversion possible)
We are seeking a high-level Manufacturing Quality Engineer to support a major transition to outsourced hardware manufacturing/ This role is ideal for an experienced quality professional who thrives in hands-on environments and can drive quality, documentation, and process rigor with an external contract manufacturer.
What You'll Do

Serve as the primary Quality Engineering interface between internal engineering teams and an external contract manufacturer.

Develop, refine, and implement SOPs, quality processes, and traceability frameworks.

Lead manufacturing readiness activities and improve existing documentation.

Ensure proper control and release management for software/firmware during production.

Support development of manufacturing tools (e.g., programming and test fixtures).

Analyze production and test data, identify trends, and drive corrective actions.

Partner with test engineering, product engineering, and manufacturing resources.

Help scale production from low-volume to higher-volume environments.
What Were Looking For

10+ years in manufacturing quality engineering.

Strong electromechanical and hardware assembly background.

Experience with external contract manufacturers or complex build environments.

Demonstrated success building SOPs, QC protocols, and traceability systems.

Familiarity with integrating firmware/software into production workflows.

Excellent documentation and analysis skills.
Bonus Points For:

Experience in medical device, industrial equipment, automation, or high-reliability hardware.
