Engineering Project Manager

 Job Description:

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, manage and oversee assigned projects for a variety of engineering efforts across New Jersey.
  • Create cost estimates by determining budgetary items including internal and external labor costs, inspection costs, permits, material internal overheads, general overheads. Creates material lists for division.
  • Provide budgetary reports and communicate progress, variances, and any concerns related to the assigned projects to State Engineer.
  • Perform a variety of design activities including CAD design and plan creation for permit and construction purposes for upgrades to water and wastewater treatment plants. Submittal to NJDEP, building permit and for other miscellaneous permits included.
  • Gather information for engineering projects required. Activities may include assisting in research and design of pressure reducing valves, booster stations, any design upgrades to water and wastewater treatment plant including chemical feed systems, clearwells, process tanks, electrical systems, etc. This may include meeting with sales representatives, as-built and internet research and site visit field work.
  • Manage tank inspections and painting projects for distribution and production plants across New Jersey. Activities include scheduling and contracting inspections, hiring consultants to create bid documents for painting projects, conducting bidding, evaluating bids and recommending vendor with the best qualified overall bid, and scheduling the timing and painting of tanks.
  • Manage Arc Flash projects for water and wastewater production plants and distribution system. Activities include scheduling and contracting inspections, hiring consultants to survey arc flash studies, conducting bidding, evaluating bids, recommending vendor with the best qualified overall bid, and scheduling the timing and construction projects based on the Arc Flash recommendations.
  • Coordinates GIS system updates to include new subdivision, hydrants, main replacements, and acquisitions.
  • Coordinate all invoices for assigned projects
  • Perform other assignments as required
