Job Overview

As an Assistant Air Freight Manager, you will oversee end-to-end air freight operations, ensuring smooth execution of shipments, compliance with regulatory standards, and high service quality. You will play a key role in managing operations, supporting commercial decisions, and leading a team to achieve operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end air freight shipment operations.
  • Coordinate with airlines, customs agents, and ground handlers for smooth execution.
  • Monitor cargo movement and resolve delays or operational disruptions.
  • Ensure proper handling of cargo, including dangerous goods and perishables.
  • Ensure compliance with Malaysian customs regulations and international standards (e.g., IATA).
  • Oversee preparation and accuracy of shipping documentation (AWB, invoices, packing lists).
  • Maintain strong relationships with airlines and logistics partners.
  • Negotiate freight rates and service agreements with vendors.
  • Handle customer enquiries, complaints, and service-level agreements (SLAs).
  • Plan shipment routing based on cost, urgency, and cargo requirements.
  • Monitor budgets, freight costs, and profitability performance.
  • Analyze operational KPIs such as on-time delivery and cost efficiency.
  • Lead and supervise operations staff, coordinators, and warehouse teams.
  • Train and ensure team adherence to SOPs, company policies, and compliance standards.
  • Prepare reports and performance analysis as required by management.

What We're Looking For

  • Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Chinese-speaking is an advantage to work closely with regional counterparts from Taiwan, Hong Kong and China.
  • Strong knowledge of air freight operations and customs procedures.
  • Familiarity with logistics systems (e.g., CargoWise, SAP).
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Good problem-solving ability and decision-making under pressure.
  • Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
