The Assistant Project Manager (Building Automation Systems) supports the planning, coordination, and execution of BAS construction and direct-owner projects. This role is ideal for individuals with a technical background in HVAC controls who are eager to develop project management skills. The position offers a growth path to higher-level PM roles based on performance and experience.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide input on technical and business elements during preconstruction and project planning.
    • Ensure accurate project booking and internal documentation completion.
    • Distribute relevant project information to stakeholders to support productivity and execution.
    • Assess alignment between customer expectations and contractual obligations; communicate any discrepancies.
    • Identify and help resolve project-related issues.
    • Track and forecast project costs to maintain alignment with budgets.
    • Coordinate material orders and installation timing to support cash flow and efficiency.
    • Assist with subcontractor or internal labor coordination for optimal project outcomes.
    • Complete monthly Work-In-Progress (WIP) forecasts and updates.
    • Support technical sales during estimating and design development phases.
    • Identify and support documentation of change orders.
    • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to troubleshoot and resolve building system challenges.
    • Review engineered submittals to confirm compliance with scope, budget, and customer requirements.
    • Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical input during all phases of a project.


    Required Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or GED
    • 2+ years of experience with HVAC controls
    • Experience supporting or managing construction projects
    • Basic understanding of computer operating systems
    • Ability to troubleshoot basic computer, electrical, and electronic systems
    • Proficient in interpreting electrical diagrams and using diagnostic tools (e.g., voltmeters, amp meters)
    • Familiarity with AC power systems and DDC technology
    • Strong communication and problem-solving skills


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Associate degree in Electronics, HVAC, or related technical field
    • 4+ years of experience in building automation or HVAC controls
    • 1+ years of project management experience
    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management
    • Experience with DDC and mechanical systems related to building automation
