Low Voltage Infrastructure Engineer

The Infrastructure Engineer sits within our structured cabling and network division, supporting the design and deployment of low-voltage infrastructure across commercial job sites. This role spans Cat6/fiber cabling systems, IDF/MDF buildouts, and network rack and stack work, while also supporting access control and IP surveillance installs on projects where both divisions are engaged. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct site surveys and job walks; document infrastructure scope including cabling pathways, IDF/MDF locations, and termination requirements
• Design structured cabling systems for commercial environments — Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, single-mode and multi-mode fiber
• Plan and oversee IDF/MDF buildouts including rack layout, patch panel configuration, and cable management
• Source materials and write detailed proposals including scope of work, bill of materials, and labor estimates
• Oversee field installation of awarded projects; coordinate with technicians to maintain quality and schedule
• Perform and oversee cable termination, testing, and certification using Fluke or comparable test equipment
• Support access control and IP surveillance installs on integrated projects — including Axis/Avigilon camera deployments and S2 access control
• Configure and commission network and security hardware prior to system handoff
• Deliver on-site system walkthroughs and end-user training as needed
• Produce as-built drawings using AutoCAD or Microsoft Visio upon project completion
• Monitor and troubleshoot deployed infrastructure both remotely and on-site

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of commercial low-voltage and structured cabling experience
• Proficiency with Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber cabling — installation, termination, and testing
• Experience with IDF/MDF buildouts, rack and stack, and patch panel installations
• Solid understanding of network infrastructure and IP-based systems
• Familiarity with access control and IP surveillance systems — Milestone/OnSSI, Axis, Avigilon, S2 a plus
• Ability to read and interpret low-voltage blueprints and network diagrams
• Proficiency across Windows operating environments including desktop and server editions
• Strong communication skills for client-facing site work and project coordination

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS

• BICSI Installer or Technician (INST1, INST2, or TECH)
• Axis Network Video Certification
• S2 Systems Certification
• Milestone Systems or OnSSI Certification
• Cisco IP Video Surveillance Systems Certification
