About the job Quality Control Manager
The Quality Control Manager (QCM) is responsible for implementing and managing the quality control program in collaboration with the project superintendent. This role acts as the liaison between the customer, superintendents, project managers, labor, and subcontractors, ensuring that all work is performed to specifications and project plans. The QCM typically coordinates the activities of multiple QC engineers across one or more projects, resolves quality issues with stakeholders, and contributes to regional quality control initiatives. This is a safety-sensitive position.
Location & Relocation
This role is based in Douglas, AZ,
and requires relocation to the Sierra Vista, AZ area. Candidates should be open to relocating to ensure accessibility to the project site and the surrounding region. Relocation assistance may be discussed during the hiring process.
Essential Duties
- Oversee start-up and implementation of the six-step quality control/safety process, including site-specific QC programs, quality plans, logs, test registers, and point files
- Lead weekly QC meetings and assist in developing preparatory meeting agendas for definable features of work
- Interface with owners on all quality-related issues and ensure alignment between project requirements and field execution
- Review inspection reports, punch lists, and close-in inspections to verify compliance
- Submit and review RFIs to confirm that contract, plan, and code changes are properly implemented in the field
- Coordinate and schedule inspections and testing with trade partners and third-party agencies
- Prepare and submit daily QC activity reports
- Audit subcontractor QC procedures and escalate recurring issues to management
- Assist in selecting third-party testing contractors and verify adherence to standards, documentation, and frequency requirements
- Participate in the evaluation and professional development of QC personnel
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture, construction management, or equivalent experience in a related role
- 5-7 years of experience on large commercial construction projects
- Valid driver's license
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel-based templates), Prolog, Primavera, and AutoCAD
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $85,000 - $105,000 (based on experience and qualifications)
