Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Low-Voltage Structured Cabling Technician with strong Audiovisual installation experience to join our team on a prevailing wage project. This role requires a technician with at least 4 years of high-level, hands-on experience in commercial environments. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with structured cabling systems, AV integration, and the ability to work independently on complex installations.

This is not an entry-level role. We are looking for a technician who understands industry standards, works efficiently with minimal supervision, and maintains high-quality workmanship on every project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, terminate, label, and test structured cabling systems (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, fiber optic, coax).
  • Perform rack and stack, cable management, patch panel terminations, and MDF/IDF buildouts.
  • Install and integrate audiovisual systems, including displays, projectors, speakers, microphones, control panels, and conferencing systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, riser diagrams, and schematics.
  • Perform cable certification and testing using industry-standard testing equipment.
  • Install cable pathways including conduit, J-hooks, cable tray, and sleeves in commercial environments.
  • Troubleshoot low-voltage and AV systems to ensure proper functionality.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and code-compliant work areas.
  • Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, and other trades on-site.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum 4+ years of structured cabling experience in commercial environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Audiovisual system installation and integration.
  • Proven experience with fiber terminations and testing (MM and SM preferred).
  • Ability to independently complete rack builds and AV device installations.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding construction drawings and technical documentation.
  • Experience working on prevailing wage or public works projects preferred.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (preferred).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to commute to job sites.
  • Professional demeanor and strong communication skills.
