Job Title: DDC Controls Engineer
Reports to: Engineering Supervisor
Job Status: Full-time, Exempt

Position Overview:

The DDC Controls Engineer is responsible for designing and supporting Building Automation System (BAS) solutions. This includes system design, programming, documentation, and technical support throughout project execution. The ideal candidate will have a mix of technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and collaborative mindset to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review mechanical and electrical plans, specifications, and customer requirements to inform system design
  • Create comprehensive design packages using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (including wiring diagrams, schematics, sequences of operation, and bill of materials)
  • Develop and configure control system software and databases to meet project specifications
  • Provide technical assistance to field technicians during installation and commissioning
  • Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure system functionality before and during installation

Qualifications:Entry-Level Requirements:

  • Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 4+ years of relevant industry experience may substitute for a degree
  • Familiarity with programming languages (e.g., C, C++, Java, Python, VBA)
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

Preferred / Advanced Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Computer Science
  • 3+ years of experience designing or programming BAS systems (e.g., Distech, Alerton, Delta, Tridium)
  • Experience with BAS programming (Function Block, Ladder Logic, or text-based logic)
  • Proficiency in CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
  • Ability to interpret mechanical/electrical project documentation
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent: standing, walking, sitting, using hands, bending, reaching outward
  • Occasional: pushing/pulling up to 12 lbs, reaching above shoulder, squatting/kneeling
  • Rare: lifting/carrying 1120 lbs

Salary Range:

$95,000 $125,000 per year, depending on experience, certifications, and technical proficiency.
