About the job Project Engineer - Low Voltage
Position Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Low Voltage Project Engineer to join our team. This position plays a key role in managing and coordinating all construction documents, schedules, and budgets. As a Project Engineer, youll ensure that the project is executed efficiently, within budget, and in alignment with contract requirements. You will also oversee and support a team of Assistant Engineers, Engineering Assistants, and Interns.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the main point of contact with architects, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and client representatives to resolve issues related to project plans and specifications.
- Evaluate and interpret drawings, specifications, and subcontractor scopes to ensure alignment with the budget and overall project goals.
- Manage and monitor the project budget to ensure financial targets are met.
- Review, manage, and track all submittals and shop drawings for compliance with project specifications.
- Coordinate and negotiate change orders, prepare cost analyses, and ensure proper documentation and approval from stakeholders.
- Lead the project closeout process, including assembling and submitting RFIs, warranties, O&M manuals, as-built drawings, attic stock, and spare parts.
- Supervise and mentor project support staff including Assistant Engineers, Engineering Assistants, and Interns.
- Prepare detailed scopes of work for trades and assist in procurement efforts.
- Develop and maintain project documentation including labor reports, general conditions logs, safety logs, change orders, and quality control records.
- Organize and lead subcontractor meetings, preconstruction conferences, and submittal review sessions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant construction experience
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project scheduling
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with project management software is a plus
- Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and LEAN construction principles
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership and team coordination abilities
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to sit, use hands, talk, and hear
- Frequently required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch
- Must occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Visual requirements include close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, and depth perception
Work Environment:
- Exposure to active construction sites with potential for loud noise, airborne particles, and mechanical equipment
- Noise level ranges from moderate to very loud depending on site activity
