About the job Data Center Technician
The Low Voltage Technician will support a new construction data center build-out, focused on copper and fiber cabling, security rough-in, and A/V rough-in. This role is hands-on and production-driven, ideal for technicians with solid structured cabling experience who can work independently with minimal direction. The position is primarily day shift, Monday through Friday, with potential overtime depending on project needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform structured cabling installations for new construction data center projects
- Pull, dress, label, and terminate Cat 6 copper cabling in accordance with TIA/EIA standards
- Install J-hook pathways, cable tray, and conduit as required
- Support fiber optic work including terminating, testing, and splicing (as skill level allows)
- Perform cable testing using Fluke testers and related tools
- Assist with security and A/V rough-in work as part of the overall build-out
- Read and interpret basic prints, layouts, and scope documents
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, project leads, and team members
- Follow all jobsite safety policies and procedures
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2–3+ years of hands-on low-voltage data cabling experience
- Strong experience with cable pulling, Cat 6 termination, and structured cabling work
- Experience with conduit installation and J-hook pathways
- Fiber experience (terminating, testing, splicing) strongly preferred
- Comfortable working independently and staying productive with limited direction
- Strong communication skills and reliability on active jobsites
- OSHA 10 certification required
- Ability to work day shift with flexibility for overtime as needed
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work on ladders, and operate in construction environments
- Supervisor reference required and must be entered in ICIMS
Benefits and Compensation
- Pay range: $25–$45 per hour, based on experience
- Weekly pay.
- Day shift schedule: Monday–Friday, typically 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- Overtime potential, with extended shifts up to 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM when required
