About the job Building Automation Specialist

As a Systems Specialist, you won't be stuck behind a desk—you'll be at the forefront of commissioning, startup, and optimization of advanced BAS and Building Automation Systems across commercial and industrial facilities nationwide.
This position requires extensive travel (up to 75% or more). This offers the opportunity to work directly with industry-leading platforms, including Tridium Niagara, Distech, Alerton, and other BAS technologies, delivering high-impact automation solutions where they matter most.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct installation and commissioning activities, including control system setup, network configuration, and equipment integration.
- Program and configure DDC controls and building automation systems.
- Collaborate with project managers and installation teams to complete projects on time and within budget.
- Troubleshoot and resolve installation issues for DDC controls and mechanical systems.
- Ensure all installation activities are performed in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of installation processes and project progress.
- Communicate regularly with the team (supervisor, project coordinator, account managers) and clients.
- Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and codes.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Comprehensive understanding of HVAC DDC Control Theory & Applications.
- Proficiency in Alerton, Distech, or Tridium programming.
- Proficiency or certifications in Alerton, Distech, Siemens, JCI Metasys, or Tridium are highly sought after.
- Familiarity with electronics and basic electrical circuits.
- Exceptional troubleshooting capabilities.
- Proficiency in computer hardware and software.
- Ability to work autonomously without constant supervision.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Travel within the region up to 75% of the time.
Qualifications and Experience:
- AA degree in applied technology (preferred).
- Certifications in Alerton, Distech, Siemens, JCI Metasys, or Tridium are highly preferred.
- Alternatively, a combination of relevant education and experience.
- Prior experience with HVAC and/or mechanical systems in building automation systems.
- Computer programming experience is a plus.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting.

- $80k-$120k per year, based on experience and qualifications.
