About the job Fire Alarm Project Technician
We are seeking a Michigan-licensed Electrical Fire Specialty Technician to support the installation, service, and maintenance of Fire Alarm, Security, and Access Control systems across the state of Michigan. This role requires hands-on field experience, strong knowledge of applicable codes, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team on commercial and industrial projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, test, and service Fire Alarm systems
- Perform installation and service of Security, CCTV, and Access Control systems
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and system layouts
- Perform system testing, inspections, and documentation in compliance with NFPA and local AHJ requirements
- Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, and other trades
- Maintain accurate service records and as-built documentation
- Follow all safety policies and job-site requirements
Required Qualifications (Must Have)
- Michigan Electrical Fire Specialty License (Active & Valid)
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with:
- Fire Alarm systems
- Security systems
- Access Control systems
- Strong understanding of NFPA 72, NEC, and local fire codes
- Ability to work independently and travel throughout Michigan
- Valid drivers license and clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with leading manufacturers such as:
- Notifier, Simplex, Siemens, Edwards, Fire-Lite
- Lenel, Genetec, Honeywell, Bosch, Avigilon
- NICET certification (Level I–IV)
- Experience with inspections and AHJ coordination
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in ceilings
- Standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods
