Our client is currently recruiting for a Component Assembly Manager to be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Assembly Department, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and delivery deadlines are consistently achieved. This role requires a hands-on leader with extensive technical knowledge of heavy diesel equipment, hydraulics, quality systems, and production management.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Manage and oversee all activities within the Component Assembly Department.
  • Lead, mentor and supervise a team of skilled artisans and assembly personnel.
  • Ensure production schedules and delivery deadlines are achieved.
  • Monitor departmental performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure all assembly work complies with company quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings and hydraulic schematics.
  • Oversee the assembly, testing and troubleshooting of hydraulic systems and components.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO 9000 Quality Management Systems.
  • Develop and implement new quality control procedures where required.
  • Ensure a safe, efficient and organised production environment.
  • Coordinate with engineering, production planning and other departments to achieve operational objectives.
  • Take full accountability for departmental productivity, quality and performance.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and operational excellence.

Personal Attributes: 

  • Recognised apprenticeship as a Heavy Diesel Plant Fitter or equivalent trade qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 years' post-apprenticeship experience.
  • Extensive experience working with hydraulic systems.
  • Previous experience supervising skilled artisans within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience in heavy equipment, mining equipment or industrial machinery manufacturing will be highly advantageous.
  • Valid Class B Driver's License.
  • Willingness to travel internationally when required.
