Our client, a company within the food manufacturing industry, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Control Manager / Food Safety Manager to lead and manage all quality assurance and food safety functions within the business. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all products meet regulatory, customer, and company quality standards while driving continuous improvement across food safety systems, compliance, and operational processes.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control systems and procedures.
  • Ensure all products consistently meet internal specifications, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor production processes to identify quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage product testing, inspections, and quality audits.
  • Investigate customer complaints, non-conformances, and quality incidents, implementing preventative measures where required.
  • Analyse quality data and prepare detailed reports for management.
  • Maintain and manage the company's Food Safety Management System (FSMS).
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations, industry standards, and certifications including HACCP, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, GMP, and relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Lead internal and external food safety audits and inspections.
  • Ensure traceability, allergen management, sanitation, and hygiene standards are maintained.
  • Develop and review food safety policies, procedures, and SOPs.
  • Drive a strong food safety culture throughout the organisation.
  • Lead and mentor the quality and food safety team.
  • Conduct staff training on quality standards, food safety practices, hygiene, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with production, operations, procurement, and warehouse teams to ensure quality objectives are achieved.
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
  • Monitor supplier quality and manage supplier compliance documentation.
  • Assist with new product development and product validation processes.
  • Ensure calibration and maintenance of testing and measuring equipment.
  • Manage quality documentation and record-keeping systems.

Personal Attributes: 

  • Degree or Diploma in Food Technology, Food Science, Microbiology, Quality Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a Quality Control or Food Safety Management role within the food manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, GMP, and food safety legislation.
  • Experience leading audits and managing compliance systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical ability.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality management systems.
