Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Technician / Power Systems Specialist with strong experience in both Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) power distribution systems.

This role is ideal for a hands-on professional with solid technical expertise, the ability to work independently, and a strong focus on delivering high-quality service to clients. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting, maintaining, and optimising electrical and power systems across various sites.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical & Operational

  • Perform installation, maintenance, and fault-finding on MV and LV power distribution systems

  • Work on Power Factor Correction systems (LV & MV)

  • Install and troubleshoot power quality metering systems, including

    VT/CT circuits

  • Diagnose and repair Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) (LV & MV)

  • Analyse power system data and compile detailed reports with

    recommendations
  • Assist in developing and specifying equipment solutions based on client requirements

Systems & Technology

  • Configure and support GSM communication technologies relevant to the company's service offering

  • Utilise IT systems for reporting, diagnostics, and system monitoring

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure adherence to substation safety standards and procedures

  • Maintain a high standard of safety when working on-site

  • Work independently while ensuring compliance with all operational

    requirements

Client Interaction

  • Engage with clients professionally, providing technical support and solutions

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships

  • Represent the company in a professional and service-driven manner

Minimum Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with MV and LV power distribution systems

  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability

  • Experience in power systems analysis and reporting

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

Advantageous:

  • Experience with Power Factor Correction systems

  • Exposure to power quality metering and analysis

  • Knowledge of Variable Speed Drives (VSDs)

  • Experience with GSM communication systems and programming

Qualifications:

  • Relevant Electrical qualification (Trade Test / Diploma / Degree advantageous)

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid Code 08 driver's licence

  • Valid passport

  • Willingness and ability to travel across Africa

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Self-motivated, reliable, and proactive
