About the job Estimator

As an Estimator for our client, you will play a vital role in analyzing project requirements, assessing costs, and providing accurate estimates for various projects and tenders . Your expertise will ensure that the company remains competitive while delivering high-quality services to their clients. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, excellent analytical skills, and a deep understanding of construction and equipment.

Duties:

  • Review project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents to understand the scope, requirements, and constraints of each project
  • Conduct site visits to assess ground conditions, terrain, and any potential challenges that may impact project costs and timelines
  • Utilize cost estimation software, historical data, and industry knowledge to accurately determine the costs associated with labor, materials, equipment, and overheads for each project.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for earthwork, excavation, grading, and other activities to quantify the required resources accurately.
  • Obtain quotes from vendors and subcontractors for materials, equipment, and services required for the project. 
  • Identify potential risks and uncertainties that may affect project costs or timelines. Develop contingency plans and mitigation strategies to minimize risks.
  • Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to develop project budgets based on the estimated costs and resources required
  • Prepare detailed and comprehensive cost estimates, proposals, and tenders for submission to clients. 
  • Communicate effectively with clients to understand their requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience as an estimator in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of earthwork principles, excavation techniques, and construction methodologies.
  • Proficiency in cost estimation software and tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
