Civil Supervisor

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Civil Supervisor to support the delivery of tailings storage facility (TSF) and associated earthworks projects within a major mining operation.

This role will focus on supervising the safe and compliant execution of tailings dam raises, embankment construction, drainage systems, and associated civil infrastructure works. You will play a critical role in ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with design specifications, geotechnical controls, environmental obligations, and site safety standards.

This is a hands-on leadership position embedded within the project delivery team, overseeing contractors and coordinating daily site activities.

Contract & Roster

• FIFO site-based role on an 8 days on 6 days off roster

• Embarkment Locations: Townsville & Brisbane

• Project-aligned contract (12 months+)

• Camp accommodation and meals provided

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will:

• Supervise daily construction activities associated with tailings dam raises and civil earthworks
• Coordinate contractors, operators, and site crews to ensure safe and efficient delivery
• Ensure strict compliance with design drawings, specifications, and geotechnical controls
• Monitor embankment construction, compaction, moisture conditioning, and material placement
• Oversee installation of drainage systems, decants, and associated TSF infrastructure
• Ensure environmental compliance and water management controls are maintained
• Conduct inspections and verify quality assurance and quality control requirements
• Participate in pre-starts, toolbox talks, and safety leadership activities
• Identify and manage construction risks in a dynamic operational environment
• Provide daily reporting on progress, productivity, and site issues

About You

You are an experienced Civil Supervisor with strong earthworks and tailings infrastructure experience within mining or major infrastructure projects.

You will demonstrate:

• 5+ years experience supervising civil construction in mining environments

• Proven experience delivering tailings dam raises or large-scale earthworks projects
• Strong understanding of TSF construction methodologies and compliance requirements

• Experience working closely with geotechnical engineers and environmental teams

• Sound knowledge of safety management systems within mining operations

• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications

• Strong contractor management and leadership capability

• High level of communication and reporting skills

Relevant civil trade qualifications, certificates in civil construction supervision, or tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience) will be highly regarded.
