The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to support the delivery of surface and underground capital projects for a Tier 1 Mining Operation in Queensland.

With underground expansion works progressing, this role will be instrumental in supervising mechanical installation and construction activities across a range of capital projects including:

  • Ventilation infrastructure and fresh air raise installations

  • Large underground fan installations and associated infrastructure

  • Pump stations and dewatering systems

  • Underground fixed plant installations

  • Surface mechanical infrastructure upgrades

  • Structural and mechanical installation works associated with mine expansion

This is a frontline leadership role within the capital delivery team, ensuring mechanical works are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Contract & Roster
  • Contractor Role

  • Initial 12-months+ (aligned to a multi-year capital delivery program)

  • 8 days on / 6 days off FIFO roster

  • Embarkment Locations: Cairns, Townsville or Brisbane

  • Direct flights to site

  • Meals and accommodation provided

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Project / Construction Lead, you will:

  • Supervise mechanical construction and installation activities across underground and surface capital projects

  • Coordinate contractors and site crews to deliver works safely and in line with approved schedules

  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and statutory requirements

  • Oversee installation of mechanical equipment, piping systems, structural components and ventilation infrastructure

  • Monitor quality control, alignment, installation tolerances and commissioning readiness

  • Manage work orders and track progress using SAP and reporting systems

  • Participate in planning and coordination meetings with engineering, operations and project stakeholders

  • Identify and mitigate execution risks impacting schedule, cost or safety

  • Drive strong contractor performance and accountability on site

  • Promote a culture of safety leadership and continuous improvement

About You

You are a practical, safety-focused mechanical leader with strong underground mining capital experience.

You will demonstrate:

  • Minimum 5+ years experience within a mining mechanical environment

  • 5+ years experience in a supervisory or leading hand role

  • Proven experience supervising underground capital projects

  • Experience delivering ventilation systems, pump stations, or fixed plant installations

  • Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting / Boilermaking / Heavy Mechanical or equivalent

  • Strong understanding of mechanical installation standards and QA/QC processes

  • Experience working with contractors in a project delivery environment

  • Working knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office systems

  • Ability to resolve day-to-day technical and site coordination challenges

  • Strong communication skills across multidisciplinary project teams

Experience with underground ventilation fans, raise infrastructure, dewatering systems, or structural/mechanical integration projects will be highly regarded.
