About the job Intermediate Accountant

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare financial statements for Companies, Trusts, Partnerships, and Sole Traders.
  • Prepare income tax returns and Business Activity Statements (BAS).
  • Perform bookkeeping tasks, including bank reconciliations, invoicing, payroll processing, and journal entries in Xero.
  • Maintain accurate financial records within cloud-based accounting platforms.
  • Support managers with tax planning and advisory matters.
  • Assist with tax planning, GST, CGT, FBT, Division 7A, payroll tax, and land tax requirements.
  • Conduct research on accounting and taxation matters as required.
  • Communicate with clients to obtain information and provide updates on deliverables.
  • Manage workflows effectively to ensure deadlines and budgets are achieved.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance client service delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in business services within an Australian accounting firm.
  • Strong understanding of Australian accounting principles and taxation requirements.
  • Proficiency in Xero.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Confident in communicating with clients and internal stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Xero Practice Manager (XPM), QuickBooks, and FYI Docs.
  • Exposure to tax planning and advisory services.
  • Experience handling a diverse portfolio of Australian clients.
  • Working toward or planning to pursue CPA or CA qualifications.
  • Proactive, organised, and solutions-focused mindset.
