With major European programmes commencing in 2026, we are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Project Manager to lead heavy machinery operations within complex, high-specification environments.

Role Overview

The Heavy Equipment Project Manager will oversee all aspects of heavy equipment planning, mobilisation, operation, and demobilisation across multiple data centre and semiconductor projects. This includes cranes, hoists, lifting systems, transport equipment, and specialised machinery required for high-precision installations.


Key Responsibilities

Heavy Equipment Management

Plan, coordinate, and manage heavy equipment operations across European project sites.

Develop lift plans, heavy transport plans, method statements, and equipment utilisation strategies.

Ensure proper equipment selection, capacity planning, and compliance with technical requirements.

Project Execution & Oversight

Lead heavy equipment mobilisation, setup, operation, and demobilisation activities.

Monitor daily operations to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance with design specifications.

Coordinate with installation teams for placement of major plant, prefabricated modules, and critical equipment.

Safety, Compliance & Quality

Ensure operations comply with European safety regulations, project standards, and industry best practices.

Conduct risk assessments, lifting studies, and safety audits.

Oversee inspections, certifications, and maintenance records for all heavy equipment.

Stakeholder Coordination

Liaise with project managers, construction managers, subcontractors, and equipment suppliers.

Participate in project meetings and provide updates on equipment progress, risks, and scheduling.

Support training and guidance for site teams on lifting procedures and heavy equipment operations.

Planning & Documentation

Prepare schedules, sequencing plans, resource plans, and logistics strategies related to heavy equipment.

Maintain accurate logs, reports, equipment registers, and compliance documentation.

Assist in procurement, tender evaluations, and contract negotiations with equipment vendors.


Requirements

Essential Qualifications

Minimum 6 years experience managing heavy equipment operations in data centre or semiconductor construction environments.

Strong knowledge of cranes, rigging, lifting equipment, transport systems, and heavy logistics.

Experience preparing lift plans, method statements, and safety documentation.

Excellent understanding of European construction and safety regulations.

Proven track record managing large and complex project sites with heavy equipment activity.

Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills.

Willingness to travel across European project locations.

Preferred Qualifications

Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

Certification in lifting operations, rigging, or heavy equipment management (e.g., Appointed Person, LOLER/PUWER competency, NCCCO).

Experience working with multinational teams and large-scale industrial clients.

Familiarity with BIM systems, scheduling software, and equipment management tools.
