Position: Carbon & Stainless Steel TIG Welder - Pipework

Job Summary
The TIG Welder will be responsible for the fabrication and welding of carbon steel and stainless steel pipework to the highest quality standards, including those required for Irish Pharmaceutical projects. This role requires precision welding to meet industry compliance, the ability to interpret ISO drawings and P&IDs, and a strong understanding of pipe fitting and preparation. The TIG Welder will work as part of a skilled team to deliver high-quality installations within Pharmaceuticals, Data Centres, and Oil & Gas environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform TIG welding on carbon steel and stainless steel pipework to Pharmaceutical grade standards.
- Prepare, cut, fit, and assemble pipes prior to welding when required.
- Conduct welding in accordance with project specifications, codes, and compliance requirements.
- Successfully complete and pass weld tests before commencing project work.
- Read and interpret ISO drawings, P&IDs, and isometric sketches.
- Walk pipework systems to verify routes and confirm installation requirements.
- Carry out pipe fitting duties including cutting, bevelling, and prepping pipe for welding.
- Perform visual and dimensional checks to ensure weld quality and compliance.
- Maintain equipment, consumables, and work area in line with company standards.
- Work safely and in compliance with site safety policies and industry regulations.
Required Certifications & Training
- FÁS Trade Certificate (Welding/Pipefitting or equivalent recognised qualification)
- Abrasive Wheels Certification
- ECITB (Engineering Construction Industry Training Board) Certification
- NVQ (Level 3 in Welding, Pipefitting, or Engineering Construction)
- Manual Handling Certification
- Working at Heights Certification
- IPAF (International Powered Access Federation) License
- Safe Pass Certification (or equivalent site safety card)
Experience
- Minimum 6 years TIG welding experience on carbon and stainless steel pipework.
- Proven track record of delivering welds to Pharmaceutical grade standards.
- Experience in Pharmaceuticals, Data Centres, or Oil & Gas projects preferred.
- Background in pipe fitting, pipe preparation, and system installation.
Skills & Competencies
- Expert knowledge of TIG welding techniques for carbon and stainless steel.
- Ability to interpret complex technical drawings (ISO, P&IDs, isometrics).
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical compliance and quality standards.
- Skilled in pipe preparation, fitting, and alignment.
- Excellent attention to detail and quality assurance.
- Strong safety awareness and adherence to industry regulations.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
