Business Unit Manager (Medical Devices) – West Adriatic Region
Our client is a well-established and rapidly growing provider of advanced healthcare technologies, partnering with leading international manufacturers to bring innovative medical solutions to healthcare professionals and institutions across the region.
To support continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Business Unit Manager who will lead a regional team of Commercial & Product specialists and drive commercial excellence across multiple markets. This is a leadership role combining people management, business development, stakeholder engagement, and partner relationship management.
Your mission
As Business Unit Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing the business strategy for a key product portfolio across Slovenia, Croatia, and Bosnia & Herzegovina. You will lead a team of Commercial & Product specialists, strengthen relationships with healthcare stakeholders, and act as the primary regional interface between international manufacturing partners and local commercial teams.
Success in this role requires a strong understanding of the medical devices industry, a proven track record in commercial leadership, and the ability to translate market opportunities into sustainable business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Strategic Leadership
- Define and execute regional business plans aligned with growth objectives.
- Identify market opportunities and drive sustainable revenue expansion.
- Monitor market dynamics, competitive activities, and emerging healthcare trends.
- Develop and implement go-to-market strategies for existing and new product portfolios.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a regional team.
- Establish clear objectives, performance standards, and development plans.
- Foster a high-performance, collaborative, and customer-focused culture.
- Support talent development and succession planning within the team.
Principal & Partner Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with international manufacturing partners.
- Act as the key regional contact for strategic business discussions.
- Align local market activities with partner expectations and growth objectives.
- Coordinate forecasting, business reviews, launch activities, and commercial initiatives.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Develop relationships with key healthcare professionals, decision-makers, and institutional stakeholders.
- Support the team in managing complex sales cycles and strategic opportunities.
- Represent the organization at industry events, congresses, and professional meetings.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee forecasting, budgeting, and performance reporting.
- Ensure effective portfolio management and resource allocation.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution of business plans.
What we are looking for
- University degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Business, Healthcare Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience within the medical devices industry.
- Demonstrated success in commercial, business unit, sales leadership, or market development roles.
- Experience managing teams across multiple markets or countries.
- Strong understanding of distributor-principal business models and partner management.
- Track record of delivering sustainable business growth and achieving commercial objectives.
- Excellent leadership, coaching, and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
- Fluent Slovene & English and Croatian/Serbian/Bosnian.
- Willingness to travel across the Adriatic region.
