VAT, Month-End Closing & General Ledger

We are looking for an Accounting specialist for a well-established international company with long-standing operations in Slovenia as part of a broader regional and global organization. The company is recognized for its stability, quality standards and long-term orientation, reflected in a collaborative and professional culture.

This is an in-house accounting and finance role with a strong focus on VAT and month-end closing, working in close partnership with the Head of Accounting. The local finance team is experienced and well-connected, offering a structured environment with strong knowledge sharing and long-term development opportunities.

Key Accountabilities

  • Preparing and maintaining VAT-related accounting records and supporting documentation (EU acquisitions and supplies, imports, exports, cross-border services), ensuring accuracy and compliance to support VAT returns prepared and submitted by external tax advisors
  • Active participation in monthly, quarterly and annual closings
  • Preparation of statutory financial statements (balance sheet, profit & loss statement, cash flow statement)
  • Collection, analysis and monitoring of financial data, variances and trends
  • Preparation of KPI reports and other financial analyses
  • Management and control of the general ledger and supporting accounting records
  • Monitoring of costs, accruals and deviations, including timely identification and escalation of variances
  • Accounting for fixed assets, including depreciation
  • Participation in internal audits and the annual financial close
  • Preparation of ad-hoc reports, budgets and forecasts for projects and investments

Experience & Capabilities

  • Solid professional background in accounting and finance (ideally within an international or complex environment)
  • Strong practical VAT expertise and sound understanding of tax compliance
  • Hands-on experience with month-end closing and general ledger activities
  • Ability to work with detail while maintaining a broader financial and business perspective
  • High level of reliability, structure and accountability
  • Experience working with ERP systems; exposure to multinational reporting environments is an advantage
  • Proficiency in English for professional communication
