My client, leading middle-market investment bank, is expanding their Technology IB team. Looking for an Associate (1st or 2nd year preferred) to join their growing fintech practice. This group is characterized by collaboration and an unwavering dedication to achieving exceptional results for each client engagement. The position is located in NYC. We will also evaluate accomplished Senior Analysts with 2+ years of relevant experience. We are targeting top-tier performers with proven sellside M&A expertise. Candidates with Analyst-to-Associate promotions are highly preferred. Visa sponsorship is not available, and we will not consider recent graduates or professionals lacking relevant M&A background.
Associates collaborate closely with Managing Directors throughout the entire M&A advisory process, encompassing deal origination, execution, and strategic negotiation phases. Key responsibilities encompass supporting the development of market research and operational analyses, crafting information memoranda, creating marketing materials, and conducting comprehensive financial and valuation assessments. Associates provide essential support to VPs, Directors, and Managing Directors across all transaction phases, which includes mentoring and training Analysts, contributing to organizational best practices and culture, and cultivating industry connections.
Core Responsibilities
- Transaction Management & Execution: Drive daily project oversight and execution across diverse advisory and financing engagements, including creating and managing comprehensive financial and accounting evaluations
- Market Analysis & Research: Evaluate and oversee market trend analysis, competitive positioning studies, and public company financial assessments to uncover client opportunities and emerging market prospects
- Industry & Company Research: Perform and supervise product/service, economic, corporate, and sector research and analysis with particular focus on fintech and payments landscape
- Financial Analysis & Client Advisory: Review and manage historical and current financial and accounting data to guide clients in financial forecasting preparation; develop, review, and participate in client presentations
- Strategic Synthesis: Synthesize strategic insights from multiple analyses, projections, business strategies, and research into comprehensive stakeholder presentations
- Due Diligence Leadership: Execute due diligence reviews of target companies to evaluate the strength of their present and projected financial position
- Transaction Documentation: Manage transaction assessment, preparation, due diligence, and execution processes; oversee the creation of marketing collateral including executive summaries, information memoranda, and additional deal documentation
- Business Development Support: Support and contribute to transaction proposals including concept development and identify, evaluate, and analyze M&A and financing prospects in the fintech sector
- Client Relationship Management: Serve as financial and strategic counsel for key client relationships alongside senior relationship managers
- Relationship Building: Cultivate and strengthen client relationships through continuous engagement and demonstration of financial and sector expertise
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior team members while contributing to firm culture and best practices
Desired Qualifications
- Experience Level: Investment banking Analyst-to-Associate internal promotions or MBA graduates with 1-2 years of applicable experience
- Alternative Candidates: Accomplished Senior Analysts with 2+ years of experience will be considered
- Performance Standard: Top-performing candidates with demonstrated excellence in sellside M&A transactions
- Promotion Preference: Strong preference for internal Analyst-to-Associate promotions
- Industry Background: Background in financial software, fintech, and payments M&A advisory is advantageous
- Sector Flexibility: Technology/software/SaaS sector experience preferred, though candidates from industrials, consumer, or healthcare backgrounds will be evaluated
- Current Employment: Currently employed at a middle market investment banking firm
- Executive Presence: Demonstrated professional maturity and capacity to collaborate effectively with C-suite executives and senior leadership teams

Minimum Requirements

Compensation
- Salary Range: $175,000 - $225,000
