Senior Project Engineer

Salary range: $125,000-$150,000

Overview:
The Senior Project Engineer will support the planning, design, and delivery of civil infrastructure components for major transit and infrastructure projects. This role works closely with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring engineering standards, constructability, safety, and budget requirements are met, contributing to the successful delivery of critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and validate design submissions, technical reports, and engineering deliverables for compliance with project requirements, codes, and standards.
  • Provide technical guidance to project teams, integrating constructability, safety, and lifecycle considerations into designs.
  • Serve as a liaison between clients, design consultants, contractors, and internal delivery teams.
  • Monitor engineering progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to maintain schedule and budget.
  • Support procurement activities, including technical specifications, bid evaluations, and contract documentation.
  • Coordinate design changes, RFIs, and technical clarifications for timely resolution.
  • Collaborate with the Contracts Lead to ensure engineering inputs align with commercial and contractual requirements.
  • Review contractor submissions for contractual compliance, including change requests, claims, and variations.
  • Support environmental, safety, and quality management throughout design and construction.
  • Liaise with municipal authorities, utility providers, transit agencies, and regulatory bodies.
  • Provide engineering support during construction, including site reviews, issue resolution, and verification of contractor work.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada or eligibility for registration.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience on major infrastructure or transit projects.
  • Strong knowledge of rail or transit systems, including civil works, track, systems, and operations.
  • Solid understanding of Canadian engineering codes, standards, and construction practices.
  • Experience in delivery partner, owners engineer, or EPC environments.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
