About the Role

Were seeking an experienced Configuration Manager (CM3) to provide expert-level configuration management support across developmental and operational systems. In this role, you'll establish and maintain configuration baselines, oversee change control, and ensure disciplined version management throughout the entire system lifecycle from initial design to deployment and sustainment.

You'll work closely with engineering, testing, and operations teams to enforce configuration standards, automate processes, and maintain consistency across hardware and software environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain configuration baselines for development, test, and production environments.

  • Implement and oversee hardware and software version control processes, policies, and procedures.

  • Develop and modify Configuration Management (CM) plans, policies, and documentation tailored to system scope and complexity.

  • Support Change Control Boards (CCB) and provide recommendations for configuration updates.

  • Utilize and administer CM tools (e.g., DOORS, Eclipse) to store, track, and manage configuration items.

  • Maintain the CM environment for product build, staging, testing, and integration activities.

  • Perform configuration audits and ensure compliance with CM policies and best practices.

  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate build scripts and procedures into hardware/software pipelines.

  • Recommend and support the use of automated CM tools to streamline version control and tracking.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of Configuration Management experience in programs of similar scope, type, and complexity.

  • Bachelors degree in a technical or business discipline (Masters may substitute for 2 years of experience).

    • Substitutions: 4 years of additional CM experience may replace a degree.

  • Experience managing CM processes throughout the full system lifecycle requirements, design, development, testing, and deployment.

  • Proficiency with source code control systems and CM tools (DOORS, Eclipse, or similar).

  • For developmental programs: minimum 1 year of experience using a source code control system in a comparable environment.

Desired Skills & Attributes

  • Strong understanding of configuration auditing, change management, and build automation.

  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and DevOps principles.

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accuracy and consistency across technical documentation.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and operational teams.

  • Experience advising or serving on a Government Change Control Board (CCB) preferred.
