About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA2) to maintain the integrity, performance, and security of complex database environments supporting critical mission systems. This role involves hands-on administration of Oracle, SQL Server, and Sybase databases, ensuring optimal performance, high availability, and compliance with system requirements and security policies.
You'll work across the full database lifecycle installing, configuring, tuning, and securing enterprise systems while collaborating closely with database engineers and system administrators to deliver high-performance, scalable data solutions.
Key Responsibilities

Maintain the integrity, security, and availability of multiple databases across environments.

Establish and manage database user accounts, roles, and access controls.

Develop and implement database policies, procedures, and security standards.

Conduct performance analysis and tuning, index maintenance, and monitoring of critical systems.

Perform disaster recovery planning, data backup, and restoration activities.

Evaluate and recommend DBMS products and tools to optimize operations and performance.

Support database modeling and prototyping efforts, assisting engineers in schema design.

Manage database architecture changes in coordination with Database Engineers (DBEs).

Direct the installation, configuration, and use of database management systems, tables, and views.

Oversee performance optimization, database restructuring, and data reloads.

Ensure compliance with DoD and government data management standards.
Required Qualifications

10+ years of experience as a Database Administrator supporting programs of similar scope, size, and complexity.

Bachelors degree in a technical discipline (Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field).

Substitution: Four additional years of DBA experience may replace a degree.

Proven experience with Oracle, SQL Server, and Sybase environments.

Demonstrated expertise in database lifecycle management, including installation, backup/recovery, tuning, and patching.

Strong understanding of data modeling, indexing strategies, and query optimization.

Experience ensuring data security, integrity, and compliance within classified systems.
Preferred Skills

Familiarity with RMF compliance, DISA STIGs, and secure system configuration standards.

Proficiency in PowerShell or SQL scripting for automation and monitoring.

Experience with performance monitoring tools, replication, and high-availability configurations.

Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
