About WellSpace Health:
WellSpace Health is the region's largest Community Health System, driven by the mission of achieving regional health through high-quality comprehensive care. WellSpace is accredited by The Joint Commission for Ambulatory Care, Behavioral Health, and as a CCBHC — reflecting an unwavering commitment to clinical excellence for every patient, no matter where they call home.
The Opportunity:
We're seeking a compassionate, experienced Registered Nurse to step into a pivotal clinical leadership role at WellSpace's Bunker Medical Respite/Recuperative Care program — a 24/7 program providing 30-90 days of medical respite, care coordination, medication management, and mental health support to patients experiencing homelessness. This is a chance to lead a mission-driven team and directly shape the quality of care for one of our community's most vulnerable populations.
What You'll Do:
- Provide clinical leadership and oversight to a team of 2 LVNs and 8-12 Clinical Support Specialists
- Develop policies, SOPs, and best-practice workflows for a growing recuperative care program
- Train, coach, and mentor staff on medication management, patient intakes, and clinical documentation
- Oversee medication management workflows including patient self-administration, narcotics, disposals, and error prevention in partnership with the Clinical Risk Manager
- Support the Admissions LVN to ensure appropriate patient intakes and clinical evaluations
- Perform RN duties: assessments, medication reconciliation, and nursing functions within scope of practice
- Ensure adherence to Joint Commission standards and drive continuous quality improvement
Required Qualifications:
- Current California RN license (graduate of an accredited school of nursing)
- Current BLS certification (or willingness to obtain within 90 days)
- 4+ years of clinical experience with diverse adult populations
- 2+ years of leadership experience supervising LVNs and support staff
- Experience with unhoused communities, substance use, or behavioral/mental health populations
- Strong physical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
- EHR proficiency (EPIC preferred)
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotation and occasional weekends/holidays
- Bilingual Spanish a plus
Compensation & Benefits:
- $122,300 - $158,900/year (depending on experience)
- Above-average health benefits at reduced costs
- Company-paid life insurance and long-term disability
- Voluntary retirement plan with company match (no vesting schedule)
- 11 paid holidays, PTO, paid sick leave, bereavement and jury duty leave
- Flexible Spending Program
- Professional development hours offered annually
Why This Role Matters:
This is more than a supervisory RN role — it's an opportunity to build clinical infrastructure, mentor a growing team, and deliver life-changing care to patients who are often invisible in traditional healthcare settings. If you believe in seeing the whole person, building strengths-based teams, and doing mission-driven work that measurably improves lives, we'd love to talk.
