About the job New Business Operation Lead
New Business Operation Lead New York City (On‑Site, 5 Days/Week)
Overview:
This is a high‑ownership, 0‑to‑1 operational role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, builds systems from scratch, and wants to directly impact justice‑impacted individuals entering the workforce. You'll launch government‑funded training programs, build employer pipelines, and design tech‑enabled workflows that scale.
About the Operational & Technical Environment
- Government Program Execution — You'll run vocational training and direct‑employment pathways for justice‑impacted individuals, ensuring compliance, quality, and measurable outcomes.
- AI & Automation Stack — Daily tools include Claude / Claude Code, no‑code automation platforms, and custom spreadsheet workflows tracking enrollment, completion, placement, and time‑to‑hire.
- Data‑Driven Operations — You'll refine processes using automation, dashboards, and iterative workflow design.
What You'll Do
- Launch 0‑to‑1 Programs Take two new government‑funded training programs from initial R&D to their first enrolled student cohorts. Own scoping, curriculum alignment, operational setup, and launch execution.
- Lead Re‑Entry Employment Pathways Build and run a direct‑employment initiative placing formerly incarcerated individuals into jobs immediately upon release.
- Employer Partnership Sales Prospect, pitch, and close 1–2 employer partners per program (trucking, HVAC, skilled trades). Establish recurring hiring pipelines and maintain partner satisfaction.
- Playbook & Systems Design Work directly with student cohorts to refine workflows, build operational playbooks, and design custom automations using AI and no‑code tools.
- Field‑Based Execution Cold calling, canvassing, in‑person employer meetings, and hands‑on candidate support.
Who You Are/Requirements
- Early‑Stage Operator 3+ years of business operations experience at an early‑stage startup. Ideally a former founder, consultant, or early hire (first 10–15) who has built programs from scratch.
- Execution‑Obsessed Comfortable with ambiguity, field work, and rapid iteration. You create structure rather than inherit it.
- Candidate‑Facing You enjoy working directly with program participants and employers.
- Work Authorization Fully on‑site 5 days/week in NYC (Harlem Midtown). US Citizen or Green Card holder.
- Nice‑to‑Have Background: Teach For America, coaching, social work, or Palantir‑style deployment strategist experience.
