Requirements:

Required Qualifications* Active OK CRT or RRT License & NBRC certification * BLS & ACLS certs required before start date* 1 year of recent experience in a hospital or LTAC setting

Duties

  • Assess patients' respiratory status through comprehensive evaluation of vital signs, lung sounds, and oxygenation levels.
  • Administer respiratory therapies such as nebulizers, oxygen therapy, and medication delivery with precision and care.
  • Manage ventilators and airway devices for patients in ICU, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), OR (Operating Room), and emergency settings.
  • Monitor patient responses to treatments, adjusting therapy plans based on physiology knowledge and medical terminology understanding.
  • Perform patient assessments to determine the need for airway management or advanced respiratory interventions.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for inpatient and outpatient populations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of treatments, vital signs, medication administration, and clinical observations in compliance with hospital protocols.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations involving airway compromise or respiratory distress, utilizing basic life support skills and critical care experience.
  • Support hospital initiatives at Level I Trauma Centers or Level II trauma centers by providing specialized respiratory services during trauma resuscitations.

Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of hospital medicine, critical care procedures, and emergency medicine protocols.
  • Proficiency in ventilator management, airway management techniques, and pulmonology principles.
  • Strong understanding of physiology and anatomy relevant to respiratory function across diverse patient populations.
  • Experience working in ICU environments with acute care responsibilities; PICU experience is highly valued.
  • Ability to perform patient assessment efficiently while demonstrating excellent clinical judgment.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, medication administration processes, and vital signs monitoring.
  • Experience in both inpatient hospital settings—including Geriatrics—and outpatient clinics or outpatient pulmonary programs.
  • Knowledge of Level I trauma center operations and Level II trauma center requirements is advantageous.
  • Competence in handling pediatric patients with specialized needs in pediatrics or neonatal units when required.
