Job Description for Infra (Telco Cloud) Project Manager  in Sydney location.

This position resides within the Project Delivery function which is responsible for all elements of


delivery including scope, time, budget and stakeholders. The Project Delivery function owns end to


end processes covering product Development, Technology Introduction and any other projects as


defined by a project governance framework. Where it exists Project Delivery will align to Optus wide


methodology, project controls and steering processes and project role descriptions.


The PM must have experience with Virtualised Infrastructure deployment which includes Openstack,


VMware ESXi, VMware VIO, Kubernetes and preferably has delivered project on actual deployment


The incumbent will be expected to work with a range of managers and other senior operational


personal.


As such the Project Manager must exhibit a broad range of qualities in order to gain/maintain


credibility and successfully lead a project to meet customer requirements.


The role is tasked with financial management and the associated reporting KPIs within the program


team. Strong financial management skills are required to ensure financial budgets are managed


effectively.


Key accountabilities for this job role and requirements a job applicant must be able to satisfy


include:


Develop, manage and improve stakeholder relations both internal and external


Use of project management artefacts to ensure effective outcomes such as:


o Accuracy of resource planning


o Delivery timelines and schedules are met


o Adherence to quality standards


Lead in the identification of business impacts resulting from project implementation and


proactively manage them


Provide appropriate resource, reporting and financial management inputs to ensure on time


delivery


Deliver financial submissions and updates to sponsors and senior stakeholders in accordance


with Optus capital management processes



Prepare monthly financial forecasts and reconciliations against budget to ensure forecasting


variance maintained within 10%


Prepare resource plans and manage ongoing resource forecasts


End to end accountability for on time/budget delivery of projects and change requests



Qualification including:


Tertiary qualifications in engineering, computer science, business or related discipline


PMI certification, Prince II and PMBOK also looked upon favourably


Required experience, understanding or credentials in:


Practical knowledge of a relevant project management and delivery methodologies


Thorough understanding of the complete project management lifecycle and solution design


Technical knowledge of design, IT infrastructure and networks concepts


Ability to converse confidently with both end-users and IT employees at all levels of the


organisation.


Experience in managing a cross-functional team from various business areas


Experience in communicating including presentations to senior management


Excellent interpersonal skills, in dealing with staff and various multi-discipline groups and


teams


Demonstrate a willingness to take ownership of project solutions


Organisational Awareness: Understanding of the decision making structure and cultural


constraints within the organisation and capacity to influencing management at all levels


Work well under pressure and to tight deadlines


Desired experience, understanding or credentials in:


Extensive (Typically 5+ years) delivering Telco, Business, IT or engineering projects


Experience in the evaluation, planning and implementation of projects in accordance with


business requirements


Experience in a large IT organisation from an agile IT project management framework


Experience in managing technical projects
