Employment Type: Full-time (4-day work week)
Pay Rate: $35 -$40 per hour (depending on experience)

About the Role
A well-established manufacturing business in the Newcastle region is seeking a skilled Sandblaster / SprayPainter to join its production team.
You will be responsible for preparing, priming, painting and finishing a variety of metal builds. This handson role works closely with supervisors and other trades, contributing directly to the durability and presentation of finished products while meeting production deadlines in a safe and efficient manner.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces for painting, including sanding, masking and priming.

  • Apply primers, undercoats and topcoats using spray equipment to meet specifications and quality standards.

  • Handle, mix and store paints and chemicals safely, in line with WHS requirements.

  • Operate spray guns, compressors and related painting equipment, cleaning and maintaining equipment after use.

  • Follow drying and curing procedures to ensure proper adhesion and durability.

  • Collaborate with other trades and team members to meet production targets.

Essential Skills & Knowledge
Strong understanding of sandblasting and spray painting methods, techniques, and materials.
Ability to mix and apply various paints and coatings.
Familiarity with surface preparation methods to achieve optimal paint adhesion.
Knowledge of WHS regulations and PPE requirements when working with hazardous materials.
Competence with spray guns, compressors and other painting equipment.

Desirable Skills & Knowledge
Experience in automotive or industrial spraypainting environments.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles.
Ability to identify and suggest process improvements.
Computer literacy 
Knowledge of environmentally friendly coatings and techniques.

Experience Required
Minimum 2 years experience in spray painting within an industrial, manufacturing or automotive setting.
Trade Certificate Certificate III in Surface Preparation and Coating Application  or equivalent.
Proven experience working in a production or workshop environment.

Highly Regarded Experience

⭐ Background in implementing or managing quality control systems.
